Dr. Christoph Israng is a career diplomat who joined the German Foreign Service in 1997.

From 2014 to 2017, he represented Germany at the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons, and has served more than eight years on the foreign policy advisory team of Federal Chancellor Angela Merkel. Previous assignments include: the Federal Foreign Office, head of Division 212 in the Federal Chancellery, foreign policy advisor in the German Bundestag, and foreign missions in Sarajevo, Istanbul and St. Petersburg.

Dr. Israng holds a PhD in economic geography and multiple degrees in business administration. He’s served in the German Air Force, where he holds the rank of Lieutenant Colonel.
