Oldřich Dědek

Dr. Dedek graduated at the Prague School of Economics in 1978 and until 1992 he was affiliated to the Institute of Economics of the Czechoslovak Academy of Sciences. In 1996-1998 he was active as an advisor to the Governor of the Czech National Bank and shortly to the Prime Minister of the Czech Republic. In 1999-2005 he acted as the Vice-Governor of the Czech National Bank. Since June 2005 he is the lecturer in the Institute of Economic Studies at the Charles University in Prague where he teaches the courses European Economic Integration, Financial Market Instruments, Corporate Finance and Portfolio Management. In March 2007 he was appointed by the Czech government to the position of the Chief Coordinator for Euro Adoption in the Czech Republic. Dr. Dedek visited London School of Economics, University of Warwick and Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City. He publishes regularly in Czech journals. He is the author of the book History of European monetary integration: From national currencies to the euro.
